You will need:
3 lb Apples
1 lb Plums
¾ lb sugar to each pint of pulp
How to make Apple and Plum Butter:
Peel, core and cut the apples, and then cook in a little water until soft.
Stone the plums and add to the apples, cook until soft.
Push pulp mixture through a nylon sieve and measure. For every pint of pulp add ¾ lb sugar, return pulp and sugar to preserving pan and bring to the boil. Boil until setting occurs and pour into small jars or pots immediately. Tie down (see jam making).
Serve apple and plum butter with biscuits or on homemade crusty bread.
A few spices can be added when cooking the fruit. Cinnamon for example gives a lovely flavour, especially for a Christmas time treat.
