You will need:
3½ lb Apples (windfalls will do)
3½ lb Sugar
2 lb Blackberries (washed)
How to make Blackberry and Apple Jam:
Peel, core and cut apples into thin slices, place into a heavy-botttomed pan with a teacup of cold water. Let simmer until tender; then add the washed blackberries. Boil for 5 minutes then add the sugar.
Bring back to the boil and boil well for 25 to 30 minutes.
Place into sterilised jars and seal well.
This jam is very economical to make, and you can enjoy your home grown blackberries and apples for many months. |
