You will need:
1 lb Fine French beans (cooked)
2 hard boiled eggs (sliced)
1 oz grated cheese
1 oz margarine
½ pint white sauce
1 oz breadcrumbs
How to make Scalloped French Beans:
Grease an ovenproof dish and put in a layer of cooked French beans. Cover with a layer of sliced hard-boiled eggs. Repeat layers, finishing with a layer of beans.
Pour the white sauce over the beans. Mix the grated cheese and breadcrumbs together and sprinkle over the top of the white sauce. Dot small knobs of margarine over the breadcrumb mixture and bake for 20 minutes in a hot oven.
This dish makes a lovely heart-warming meal that can be eaten on it's own at lunch time, or serve with meat as part of a main course. |
